One of the theological issues concerning the infallibility of prophets is that whether they are infallible in all affairs of life spiritually or materially or like other people they sometimes make mistakes. Most of Shiite scholars and theologians believe that they are absolutely infallible. To demonstrate it they have presented some arguments. But some of Shiite scholars and Sheikh Saduq and his teacher, Ibn Walid, at the top don’t agree with this and refer to those hadiths which are found in Shiite and Sunni Sources concerning the holy Prophet’s prayer.

Registering dates of birth and death of infallible Imams is one of the oldest issues which Islamic historians have dealt with and written some books in this regard. In spite of high importance attached to these dates, there are many discrepancies while registering and recording them.

One of these discrepancies is concerned with the birthday of holy Prophet, may peace and blessing be upon him. Mentioning different versions, the author of the present paper views this issue from two perspectives: Tiqat al-Islam Kulayni and Sheikh Saduq

Hadith concerning Pollination of Date-Palms: A Survey

In some hadith sources there is a hadith about forbidding pollination of date-palms and has been attributed to the holy Prophet, may peace and blessings be upon him. Dr. Sorush holds this as a scientific error of the Prophet.

The author of the present paper has a critical view of this hadith both by document and content. He argues that there is no trace of such a hadith before the third century. Some believes that this hadith has been made up by some rulers of the time to justify the separation of religion from material world. The content of the hadith contradicts the holy Quran and does not agree with the Prophet’s knowledge about the pollination of flowers. Since it’s not a reliable hadith, it can not be regarded as the Prophet’s scientific mistake.
