البيان (The Prolegomena To The Quran) - الخوئي، السيد ابوالقاسم - الصفحة ١٩٠
٢. It is related in chapter ٢٨ in the Book of Numbers (verses ٣-٧): "The Lord said to Moses, ... and you shall say to them, This is the offering, by fire, which you shall offer to the Lord: two male lambs a year old, without blemish, day by day, as a con tinual offering. The one lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer in the evening; also a tenth of an ephah of fine flour [as] a cereal offering, mixed with a fourth of a hin of beaten oil. ... Its drink offering shall be a fourth of a hin for each lamb."
This decree was abrogated in chapter ٤٦ of Ezekiel (verses ١٣-١٥): "He shall pro vide a lamb without blemish for a burned offering to the Lord daily; morning by morn ing he shall provide it. And he shall provide a cereal offering with it morning by morn ing, one-sixth of an ephah, and one-third of a hin of oil to moisten the flour, as a cereal offering to the Lord; this is the ordinance for the continual burnt offering."
٣. It is also related in chapter ٢٨ of the Book of Numbers (verses ٩-١٠): "On the Sab bath day, two male lambs a year old, without blemish, and two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour [as] a cereal offering, mixed with oil, and its drink offering: this is the burned offering of every Sabbath, besides the continual burned offering and its drink offering." This decree, too, was abrogated in chapter ٤٦ of Ezekiel (verses ٤-٥): "The burned offering that the prince offers to the Lord on the sabbath day shall be six lambs with out blemish and a ram without blemish; and the cereal offering with the ram shall be an ephah, and the cereal offering with the lambs shall be as much as he is able [to
offer], together with a hin of oil for each ephah."
٤. It is related in chapter ٣٠ in the Book of Numbers (verse ٢): "When a man vows a vow to the Lord, or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth."
The permission to swear a firm oath in accordance with the ruling of the Torah was abrogated by what has been related in chapter ٥ of Matthews Gospel (verses
٣٣-٣٤): "Again you have heard that it was said to the men of old, You shall not
swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn. But I say to you,
Do not swear at all."
٥. It is related in chapter ٢١ of the Book of Exodus (verses ٢٣-٢٥): "If any harm follows, then you shall give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, bum for bum, wound for wound, stripe for stripe."
This decree was abrogated with the prohibition from seeking retribution in the law of Jesus, as related in chapter ٥ of Matthews Gospel(verse ٣٨): "You have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye and a tooth for tooth. But I say to you, Do not resist one who is evil. But if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, tum to him the other also."
٦. It has been related in chapter ١٧ of the Book of Genesis (verse ١٠), in what God said to Abraham: "As for you, you shall keep my covenant, you and your descen dants after you throughout their generations."
This has been endorsed by the law of Moses. Hence, in chapter ١٢ of the Book of Exodus (verses ٤٨-٤٩), it is related thus:"... And when a stranger shall sojourn with you and would keep the Passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised; then he may come near and keep it; he shall be as a native of the land. But no uncircum-
