ZAKATUL FITR
١٩٩٩. If, at the time of sunset on Eidul fitr
night (i.e. the night preceding Eid day), a person is adult and sane and
is neither unconscious, nor indigent, nor theslave of another, he
should give, to a deserving person, on his own account as well as on
account of all those who take their meals at his house, about three
kilos per headof wheat or barley or palm-dates or raisins or rice or
millet etc. It is also sufficient if he pays the price of one of these
food-stuffs in cash.
٢٠٠٠. If a person is not in a position to meet
his own expenses as well as those of his family for a period of one
year, and has also no occupation by means ofwhich he can meet these
expenses, he is an indigent person, and it is not obligatory on him to
pay Zakatul fitr.
٢٠٠١. One should pay Fitra (Zakatul fitr) on
account of all those persons, who are treated to be having their meals
at his house on the evening of Eidul fitr night,whether they be young or
old, Muslims or unbelievers; and it is also immaterial whether or not
it is obligatory on him to meet their expenses and also whether they are
in hisown town or in some other town.
٢٠٠٢. If a person makes a man, who takes his
meals at his house and is in another town, his agent to pay his own
fitra out of his (the house-owners) property andis satisfied that he
will pay the fitra it is not necessary for the house owner to pay the
mans firm himself.
٢٠٠٣. It is obligatory for a person to pay the
fitra of a guest who comes to his house before sunset on Eidul fitr
night with his consent and is considered to beone who takes his meals at
his house.
٢٠٠٤. It is difficult to say that it is
obligatory on a person to pay the fitra of a guest who comes to his
house on the night of Eidul fitr before sunset withouthis consent, and
stays there for some time, and, although apparently it is not
