metal mixed with gold and silver and the proportion of that metal is
such that the utensil cannot be saidto be made of gold or Silver.
٢٣٨. If there is food in a gold or silver
container and, in view of the fact that eating and drinking in utensils
made of gold or silver is unlawful, a persontransfers that food to
another utensil, there is no harm in eating or drinking in that utensil,
provided that the people do not say that food is being eaten from gold
orsilver utensils.
٢٣٩. There is no harm if the cover of the
smoking-pipe which contains tobacco and fire, or the scabbard of a sword
or knife or the receptacle of the holy Quran ismade of gold or silver.
However, the recommended precaution is that the receptacles of scent, or
antimony or opium which are made of gold or silver should not be used.
٢٤٠. If it cannot be helped there is no harm in
eating or drinking from gold and silver utensils to the extent necessary
but eating or drinking from them more thanthis is not permissible.
٢٤١. There is no harm in using a utensil about which it is not known whether it is made of gold or silver or something else.
